Gigamon Launches Version 2.0 of GigaVUE-MP Data-Access Switch for Out-of-Band Network Monitoring

--First enterprise-class out-of-band data-access switch now features 10 Gigabit capability and logical traffic mapping -

February 27, 2006 – San Jose, CA – Gigamon Systems, a leading provider of enterprise network data access solutions for out-of-band monitoring, announced today the availability of GigaVUE-MP Version 2.0 which adds advanced mapping and 10 Gigabit scalability to its enterprise-class, out-of-band data-access switch.

The new release greatly expands the functionality of GigaVUE-MP – which enables “Any-to-Any” connectivity from multiple data sources to multiple network monitoring tools, significantly reducing total cost of tool ownership. In less than nine months since its initial product release, GigaVUE-MP has been installed by over 30 leading enterprise customers and government agencies representing over $2 million in sales.

With its new 10 Gigabit “GigaLINK” stacking architecture, multiple GigaVUE data-access switches can now be interconnected to form a contiguous out-of-band data-access switching fabric, gracefully scaling to adapt to a growing network.

Version 2.0 also includes a new mapping filter capability that insures optimal traffic loads at each tool by logically dividing and mapping the traffic to individual tools. Network managers can now split multi-Gigabit traffic on the basis of VLAN ranges, application ports, subnets, IP addresses, flows, or other attributes to a parallel array of sub-Gigabit monitoring tools without fear of overloading any one tool.

“Network and security personnel face the challenge of managing an increasing number and types of disparate monitoring tools, which are necessary to maintain and protect the rapidly-growing volume of traffic on both the enterprise and service provider networks", said Jeffrey Nudler, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Management Associates. "GigaVUE-MP Version 2.0 addresses this problem by increasing scalability and providing a solution for even the largest and most complex mesh networks.”

By filtering, aggregating, and multicasting critical data to support multiple network monitoring tools, GigaVUE-MP enables more flexible network security, monitoring, and troubleshooting while using far fewer and less intrusive tools. This enables network managers to meet the ever more onerous challenges of regulatory compliance, security, application optimization, and availability of today’s enterprise network.

“We developed Version 2.0 based on feedback from our customers that they needed an even more powerful data-access switch to keep pace with their expanding traffic and port count,” said Denny K Miu, CEO and Founder of Gigamon Systems. “We are excited by the strong reception that we are receiving for the upgraded GigaVUE-MP.”
